We undertake physical testing on our standard stock-shapes and for custom specific components and applications:
Characterisation (in-house)
In-house material identification is performed for clients (in component or semi-finished form) including:
- Basic material characteristics, such as hardness, are tested in-process and after completion to ensure material quality.
- Melt-point and crystallinity tests are performed using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
- Material density tests are performed using an electronic balance
Characterisation (external):
Viva Nylons employ external consultants for sensitive testing, characterisation and analysis including:
Mechanical Tests
- Density
- Tensile strength and modulus
- Flexural strength and modulus
- Compressive strength
- Izod or Charpy impact
- Tensile impact
- Falling weight impact
Thermal Analysis/Characterisation
- Heat distortion temperature (HDT)
- Crystalline melting point / Tg
- Thermal expansion coefficient
Electrical
- Volume/surface receptivity
